Wheels & shock
« on: July 15, 2013, 08:35:25 PM »
I had a new set of Super Corsa's mounted on Saturday and learned my stock front wheel is badly bent.  It's never been down & actually rode well.  It's actually hard to believe the rim is bent, but I saw it myself.
Anyway, I want to stay as close to the original "look" but imporve handling with lighter rims.  I like the MFR 5 spoke and the Dymag % spoke carbon.  I'll paint them the original silver, but I didn't know if the 999 wheels will work?  The rear will be the 5.5".  Has anyone use 999 wheels?
I also want to improve the rear shock.  I don't want the Ohilins gold & orange, because I like to stay as close as I can to the original look.  Has anyone done anything with the shock that keeps the original color & look?
Also, I'm going to Laguna this weekend.  It would be nice to see another MH on the Island.  I hate the dumb bells with back packs, they broke a mirror one year.

The MHe hub centers are the same as the 748/996.  I am not (yet!) aware of other Ducati wheels being interchangeable with the MH900e, although 999 wheels will go on the later SportClassics.

You can have your original wheel straightened to good as new (maybe better, in this case).

You want lighter wheels and will contemplate 999 units.  If you don't want to spend $5,000 for carbon wheels, maybe $2,200 for Marvic magnesiums will do the trick - I know they'll fit.  You might want to ask MFR if their definition of 'SportClassic' includes the MH900e.

999 uses a double sided swing arm, so no go on that wheel.

The MHe hub is also used on 916, 748, 996, 998, 848, Monster S4RS, Monster S2RS, Hypermotard, Multistrada, and probably others I'm not remembering odd the cuff.  The 5 cush pad models all share a hub, but not the 6 cush pad models like Panigale, 1098, and 1198.
