Howdy
« on: December 18, 2012, 10:18:22 AM »
Welcome to the new MH900e forums!

I know it's not pretty right now....and it's not well populated...and it's...well....it's just not "home".  It'll get there.  Please feel free to drop hints about what you'd like to see changed.

I'm currently working on a REAL MH900e Registry that should be active in the next few days.  I'll post more about that shortly in the Registry section.

Chat.  Complain.  Discuss.  Enlighten.  Hopefully this will be the last time our community undergoes this sort of upheaval.

OK...so a few things.......

First, the Registry is up in its prototypical form.  You can visit it at http://registry.mh900e.org.  Feel free to leave feedback or request your own registry page in the Registry topic on this forum.

Second, you can do a LOT more here than you could on the old bbPress site.  You can administer your own profile.  You can add your own avatar either by uploading it via the utility in the profile manager (the word "Profile" near the top of the page...then "Summary"....then "Forum Profile"), which also allows you to select from an installed library of avatars or simply link to one you have elsewhere.  You can add your own "Personal Text " via the same utility (it appears where the words "Former Owner 1501" appear to the left of this post).  You can add a "Custom Title" (it appears where the words "General Partner, Desert Desmo, LLC" appear to the left of this post).  You can add a link to your personal or business website and several other things.  Play with your profile a bit and have fun.  You can also easily add photos and videos to you posts, as well as hyperlinks, smileys, and other fun markups and effects.  Play around a bit!

Thirdly, I'll be customizing the appearance of this site a bit in coming days.  Don't panic if it's not what you like.  Feel free to leave feedback if you like!

Finally, I'll be adding links to more things that were difficult (or impossible) for me before.  I'll be adding permanent links to all manuals for the MH900e.  Look for them in a new category (that will be locked to posts, but will include the links) soon.  This will include service manuals, owners manual, and parts manual.  I can add articles and other literature, too, (with permission if the material is copyrighted) if you have something the community might find of value.

Another quick note to let everyone know that you'll be required to enter "Captcha" data and answer the security question only twice.  Once at registration, and again when you make your very first post.  "Captcha" is the thing where you're given a window with letters you have to retype.

This is to stop spammers from registering and posting.  It sounds simple, but between the time I set up this board and the time I implemented this spam rule I received over two dozen spammer registrations (in about 18 hours) and had a post in French advertising a pornographic website.  Since implementation, no bogus registrations have been received!

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this has been done both to make my job easier and to protect our community from unwanted solicitations.

Well, I do hope there's a section for French porn..

Thanks a lot for getting this set up. Over the years this group of mh900e enthusiasts has been a great resource.

Cut and paste, Gary.  It's that easy!  Copy the image to your clipboard and paste it into your message.

Alternatively, if you have an image that's hosted elsewhere on the web (like photobucket or something) you can use the first "button" in the second row above the window where you type your message.  (if you hover your mouse over it for a few seconds it'll pop up a small window that says "insert image")  To insert a hosted photo just strike the button and paste the URL of the hosted photo between the prompts that will appear in your message.  The button will automatically put your cursor between them.  Posting this way saves space on this server, for what that's worth.

For reference...the entire first row is for text effects....Bold, Italics, Underline, Strikethrough, Preformatted Text, Left Justify, Center Justify, Right Justify, and font effects...the second row is for other cool new stuff...insert image, insert hyperlink, email, insert .ftp link, A few more text effects like GLOW, SHADOW, and
MarqueeSuperscript, Subscript, Teletype, and others that you can use to accentuate your posts, including, obviously, smileys.   :o

Have fun with it...and post those pics!

Hi Cloner,
New site looks clean and professional - surely a good foundation for bigger and better things. I've had a funny old 12 months from MH900e ownership through Desmosedici and back to an 851 but finally settling down agin for 2013. Looking forward to the discussions here too!
