A plea for help - upper chain slider
« on: March 07, 2015, 08:57:51 AM »
Greetings 900e owners.  I have a big project going on a 2006 Sport 1000.  I'm upgrading every aspect of the motorcycle to include an aluminum tank/tail, Ohlins R/T front-end, Kineo spoked wheels, some magesium trim, and the coup-de-grace is a MH900e swing arm.  So far the project has been going very well and the bike is nearly ready for a test ride before I tear it back down for paint.  However, I hit an unexpected snag.

Ducati no longer has the upper chain slider in stock for the MH900e swing arm.  I've been looking at options to fabricate a custom one, but the part is actually more complex than you would assume.  It has a relief cut into the bottom to mold around the swing arm tube, which is curved, and then there's the issue of getting the reliefs in the correct spots for the two screws that hold it on.

I've found a local business that does CNC plastic fabrication.  They can make a replica of the slider, but they need one to take measurements off of.

So here's my plea:  I would be more than happy to pay a handsome fee plus some collateral if somebody would be willing to ship me your upper chain slider so I can get a replica made.  I will need it for 2 days, then I will ship it back to you.  For collateral, I'm willing to put up whatever you need to feel comfortable, within reason.  I attached a picture of my project in its current state, and also a diagram with the part I need circled in red.  It's extremely easy to remove, and it does not require removal of any other parts.  It's just 2 screws and it will slide out from under the chain.  The part number is 447.1.036.1A

Please send me a PM if you might be willing to help me out.

Thanks so much!

I believe the original material these are made from is Delrin, for what that's worth.
