General Discussion / MH900 Current US Market?
« on: May 02, 2017, 12:52:34 PM »
Getting ready to officially post up my MH on Cycletrader in the coming week or so. Currently at the dealer getting all the fluids changed out and a general check up to make sure she's all set for sale. Mileage is 4,204.  I have the stand, plaque and t-shirt.  It will be in almost 100% stock form, the  only thing that won't be OE but will come with the bike are the OE Tires and OE tank. I recently replaced the cheap plastic fuel line disconnects with nice metal connections. It has brand new tires and the California Cycleworks tank/battery relocation. There is some minor "bubbling" of the paint on the engine cover (stator side) but no flaking. The top triple has a few blemishes from age. A little "yellowing" of the fins on the heads. No leaks. I don't think I am missing any critical details overall in very good condition for a bike that is 16 years old with 4K miles.

Does anyone have a thought on the current US Market value? I'm not irrational/delusional and know that it is not a $20K bike. I was thinking $15-16K would get it sold. Feedback would be appreciated.

Mh900e Parts and Accessories / Potential Solution

Since trying to start a group buy for the SD 156 I was eventually lucky enough to acquire one. Yay me! I know how ridiculous it is to find these guys so I have reached out to a colleague of mine that does a ton of CNC work.  Long story short how many of you would be truly interested in buying a setup that used the same Ohlins damper (would be new) and a custom CNC mount that was of equal or better quality than the original SD156 kit and would include all hardware? I don't know cost yet as I have to get my bracket off my bike and sent to him for him to asses. Once I know more, I'll probably start a new thread with more details.  If it falls short and not worth producing I'll be sure to let you all know. Rather than cluttering up this thread any further, shoot me a pm of you're interested. FWIW we won't need the 25 required by Ohlins.

Looking for an MH900e swingerarm for a project.  Paint condition doesn't matter but must be otherwise perfect.  Shoot me an email at if you have one for sale.  Thx!

Good Luck!  You have quite the treasure hunt ahead of you. :)  If you want to go extreme, Randy at StradaFab is now making the MH900 frame in Titanium for a little over $7000.  You would still need to find a swing arm.

Frame and Suspension / Wheel swap/conversion
« on: June 07, 2014, 10:38:07 AM »
On a previous post another member, Cloner posted this regarding wheels that will fit the MH900e:

...."The MHe hub is also used on 916, 748, 996, 998, 848, Monster S4RS, Monster S2RS, Hypermotard, Multistrada, and probably others..."

I am interested in doing a swap like this and am even considering switching over to a spoked wheel like Alipna or Kineo.

Has anyone done a wheel swap that was pretty straight forward?  What all does it entail by way of Spacers, Rotors, Brakes, etc?

Guidance would be appreciated!    :)

That looks great, Matt. thanks for posting the pics. I'll see what your guy can do for me.

You bet CJ.  Good luck with the kit.  Hopefully yours is in better shape than mine.

I took some decent pictures and put them up on my FLCKR page.  As I stated, the end result is excellent.  Only flaw is the flaw that was present on the body when it shipped to me.  If you have one of these kits that need to be finished, reach out to John with and tell him that Matt referred you over.

Thanks Bolt!  John has done a great job with what he was given so I can't complain there.  I really do wish I would've known that "RAW and has some scratches" was not quite an accurate and fair description.  Of course I had no idea just how bad it was until I sent it to someone the body shop otherwise I would've requested replacement.  In retrospect, should provide detailed photos of the kits and any significant flaws that are present rather than a generic photo that I think gets used kit after kit.  Kind of ridiculous if you ask me and even more so that I was naive enough to not request them first.  Bolt, I don't know how your parts arrived, but the nose piece had a void that someone had attempted to use filler on and the filler was collapsing. John repaired the void as best he could, I have attached an image of the area that was the worst post repair.  It's about 2.5 cm x 1.5 cm and on the lower edge, not directly visible but still hacks me that I didn't know this when I purchased.  Oh well.  Buyer beware.  I'll post more images once I have unwrapped the remaining bits

He shipped it back to me Monday this past week.  Should be here on Tuesday this week since there is a Holiday.  I'll post pics and impressions when it arrives.  He did tell me that one of the imperfections had to be filled though is not visible now that it is finished.  Again, I suspect that these kits being sold by on eBay were probably kits that never made it past quality control or at least the kit that I purchased.

Thanks Matthieu.  I'll let you know the time it took him when he wraps it up.  Here is another picture he sent this morning.

He's making progress.  He is custom painting the silver and red detail and custom cutting the lettering.  Should be finished in the next few days.  I'll post final pictures of the finished body when he ships them back to me.
