Wanted / Re: Standard indicator needed

The OEM indicators are still available from Ducati and they're cheap to boot!

Electrical / Re: Dashed for odometer reading ???
« on: August 10, 2017, 09:01:44 AM »
The dashes are indeed poorly made for resistance to water.  They don't seal well and the electronics inside are vulnerable to water damage.  I carried a plastic bag inside the tool compartment at all times in case it rained while riding the bike, as I know a half dozen riders who lost dashes while riding.

One Bimota model used the same dash but without the chrome bezel, in case you're shopping.  Doesn't it seem odd to look for the more common Bimota part?  :)

Outside that you're down to a non OEM instrument cluster if you like functioning instruments.

In the MHe Maintenance Manual they're at the end of the Frame Section for the frame (Section E) and the end of the Motor Section for the motor (Section F).

Chain Adjusting Eccentric Screw is what you're looking for.  They're to be tightened to 70 Nm (52 lb*ft) after greasing them.  Tighten one screw, then the other, then the first one again (1-2-1 in Ducati terminology).  This is a steel swingarm rather than the aluminum unit used on 916.

I'm interested in installing a larger rear sprocket (+ 1T or +2T or +3T) and I cannot find what I'm looking for online.
Does the MH share a common rear sprocket with other Ducatis?...if so, which ones?
Or does anyone have a link where I may purchase a larger rear MH sprocket?
Thanks muchly.
Don R.

Any Ducati with the smaller single sided swingarm system will use the same sprocket.  916 series bikes, various Monsters, 848, and others.

An S2R800 swing arm is a lot easier to come by.  Just sayin'!

Wanted / Re: X Bracket, etc
« on: June 30, 2016, 03:19:33 PM »
David Purcell made the machined x-brackets, so you'll need to contact him directly to be added to a list.  He's near Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

The chain guard, part number is 446.1.003.1A, is no longer available through Ducati.  That said, a quick online search showed a few dealers advertising availability at a cost of $11.11.  You might try digging around to see if any dealers have one NOS.

Good luck with your new (to you) MH900e!

Frame and Suspension / Re: Rear brake lockup
« on: June 30, 2016, 03:13:11 PM »
This is a common issue, not only with Ducati motorcycles using Brembo systems, but many brands.  If the brake pedal is misadjusted so that the master cylinder's piston is held off its stop, the piston covers the return port and fluid cannot return to the reservoir.  Add a little slack to your pedal adjustment and the problem will be rectified.

I'll try to snap a few pics tonight.  I think I have a dead one that's opened up in a drawer.

What do you consider a "sensible offer", mervynj?  A number will probably help you sell, and I have several channels through which I can advertise for you once a potential buyer has some idea what you're looking for.

I believe the original material these are made from is Delrin, for what that's worth.

Engine / Re: Cylinder head
« on: February 21, 2015, 09:47:10 AM »
I never noticed the "J1" stamp.  I know the "V" heads are considered superior to the earlier "W" heads used primarily on 750s and on some M900s, for what that's worth.

Wanted / Re: C spanner
« on: January 09, 2015, 09:12:59 AM »
I like this one from Corse Dynamics  Corse Dynamics Spanner Wrench and it can be purchased on ebay or via several online vendors.  Any wrench for the small axle hub will work, though, and there are tons of them on ebay made by various manufacturers or at Motowheels, Bellissimoto, or several other vendors.

748/916/996/998/MH900e/Monster S4/Monster S4RS/Monster S2R800/Monster S2R1000/848/Hypermotard all share a hub.
