General Discussion / Spammers
« on: December 15, 2014, 08:53:17 AM »
Obviously, if you were here since Friday (three days ago), you know the site has been hit by spammers who have figured out how to bypass the "Captcha" registration feature.  I have removed all of their posts and all accounts created since Friday (several hundred......I think I've gotten maybe 20 legitimate ones over the last year).  If you registered during that time and I deleted your account by mistake I apologize.

I have changed the registration procedure to require administrator permission, so I doubt this will be a problem again.  I have also upped the complexity of the "Captcha" image and increased the number of spam catch questions from one to three.   If you registered during this spam attach and your new account was deleted I apologize.  Please reregister and I'll approve your new account if it appears legitimate.

Most of the offending accounts were from .ru addresses (Russia) or variants thereof, Hotmail, and gmail accounts, for what that's worth.  The last hundred or so are all .ru addresses, so if you have one of those expect extra scrutiny.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled www.mh900e.org.

PJ's motorcycles in Albuquerque, NM has an MH900e on consignment.  Asking price is in the $11k range.  It's a rider, and definitely not pristine, but it does have a Staintune and a few other goodies.  Call Jonezy at PJ's for details.  505.323.6700

General Discussion / Terblanche Video
« on: April 19, 2013, 08:49:51 AM »
Jann Stubbs posted this video to the Bevelheads List this morning and I though you guys might find it of interest.  It includes an interview with Miguel Galuzzi regarding design of the Monster and with Pierre Terblanche discussing the MH900e.  It was shot during an event at Doffo's Winery in Temecula, CA.  Enjoy!

General Discussion / With hindsight as it is......
« on: February 15, 2013, 01:56:42 PM »
I'm already regretting the sale of #1501 and dreaming of my next MH900e purchase.  I got to thinking "what kind of MHe would I buy if I was in the market today?"  Knowing what you all know, and drawing on your pool of experience, I'm posing the question:

"If you were in the market to buy an MH900e, what would you look for in your purchase?"

Originally, when I bought 1501, I looked for an unmolested example.  At this point I'd try to find a bike with a nuked or very high mileage engine, and possibly one that's fallen down once or twice but has a straight frame and swingarm.  I'd work to install a 1000DS or 1100 motor, CF body, Staintune exhaust, Ca-Cycleworks tank, aftermarket gauges, and non-MHe specific SBK spec suspenders all around.

Looks and function in one package!

What do you think?  Sacrilege or Sweet?   :-\

General Discussion / Mike Hailwood Replica Article
« on: January 04, 2013, 10:23:23 AM »
A link to a neat article not about the MH900e, but about the original Mike Hailwood replica of the mid '80s!  Lots of information about the transition of State controlled Ducati into the hands of Cagiva and about the economics of making motorcycles at that time, not to mention some pretty pictures.

It took the article a while to load for me, so be patient.   ;)

General Tips and Advice / MH900e Tire Sizes
« on: December 26, 2012, 01:40:09 PM »
I thought I'd start this section off with a quick note on tires for the MH900e.  The OE sizes for the bike are 170/60-17 rear and 120/65-17 front.  If you prefer long wearing rubber it's fairly easy to find tires in the OE sizes.  However, if you ride your bike the least bit "hard" you might want to get rubber a bit stickier than is available in these sizes.

I mounted several sets of tires to my bike during its stay in the garage, and I never had the least difficulty with 180/55-17 rear and 120/70-17 front.  This small change makes all the difference if you want sticky rubber.  I mounted Pilot Power (single compound) and Power Pure (dual compound) units to the bike to excellent results.  The Pilot Power set lasted a bit longer, and I don't believe the MHe's suspension was fully up to exploiting the extra grip from the Pures.

Take this for what it's worth....
