Title: X-Bracket Group buy - who's in?
Post by: lordmoonpie on January 07, 2016, 06:16:18 AM
Long termers with the MH900e will either have already cracked their original x-bracket or know of the weakness in the part generically speaking. The welds in particular are prone to cracking and there have been cases of things dropping off! The solution is to replace the original part for safe keeping with a new bracket made by Evolution engineering. They are a one piece item, much stronger and can be engraved with the MHe logo, the bike's unique number and even anodised any colour you want. In talking to evolution they are willing to do a run of ten brackets for us if we can get ten volunteers together. The brackets are approx. $440 USD for a base model with engraving, anodising an other options at additional cost. It might sound a fairly pricey option but the quality is exceptional and it allows you to keep the original and irreplaceable bracket safe.
I've attached pictures of mine so you can see how nice they are and how they compare. If you would like one for your own bike, let me know in this thread and once we hit the Magic Ten I will see about commissioning them. We have one pledge so far - another nine to go! ;-)

already have one, so not ordering, but wanted to say these are excellent

like lordmoonpie states, oem prone to cracking and I had no luck getting it re-welded
these are one solid piece and workmanship/quality are excellent

good luck with 'group buy'

That's three so far....we can go with less than 10 but it makes it more expensive so as I know the machine shop is bombed with work right now let's keep the list going here and see how many we can get to...

Is this the part that holds the licence plate?

The stock one is prone to damage?

That sounds right ignited, it's a weak design as the welds can snap. The billet part is much stronger, can be engraved with your number and let's you put the original part safely on the shelf.

We're up to six pledges....four short of the mark...unless you guys want to consider a slightly higher price and go for it without further waiting? Let me know what you want to do and I can only ask :-)

OK, so what would be the cost per unit if only six were ordered?
Thank you.

Hey.  New to this forum. Already cracked and welded mine.  Is this group buy happening or done.  Can I get one?

Guys - I'm working on getting a unit price for you based on the seven of you here being interested. If we get the price and then some drop out it'll only go north from there but hopefully they are still willing to work on less than ten. Will let you know as soon as I get a response...

Sounds good. Me and Mike are still on board.

I have the details for everyone but the message facility only allows me to mail the seven of you individually and then only 2 messages per hour so it's going to take me most of the day to get the information over to you. So, I'm posting here for everyone else to see too and maybe it'll generate more than seven orders and bring the cost down for everyone? Good luck!

Thanks for your patience on this guys, we have a deal on the table for you, based on all seven of you ordering. The straightforward position is that if one of you drops out, the unit price for the others goes up so it's best for everyone if you're all as committed to this as the posts suggest.
OK - details are:
$470.00 for the X-Bracket with BRITE Anodize

Engraving would be an additional $35.00 (This is for your bike number/2000 to personalise it)

Shipping would be $15.00 Domestic
International would be extra.

To proceed, I suggest you email David Purcell direct rather than me act as a middle man and let him know this is related to the group buy that "Simon has been discussing with him for 7 units" - mail address is: dpurcell@evolution-machining.com
Aluminium pricing is constantly changing so you need to be relatively quick to maintain the price.  David can send you a paypal invoice once he has your shipping information or you can call and pay direct by credit card over the phone, numbers and address below.

There you go - I've done my bit now so it's all down to you and parting with your money :D
I fully recommend David's products though they are not only perfect quality they are way stronger than the stock items and look brilliant with the MH900e logo and your number on the back. Good luck guys - post pictures when you get your bracket fitted  ;)

OK so six of the seven of you have done the deal with David for the X-Bracket. Don R (L4V) considering you were knocking above, you're the last to the party. If you don't contact David in the next few days he's going to have to come back to the other six with a slightly elevated price! You have chased this hard so here's hoping you make contact and save the other guys a few bucks and make good on your commitment. The machining will then get underway. If anyone here knows Don, give him a bit of encouragement on behalf of the other six members :-)

Sent me a PayPal invoice.
$485 sent to him this AM, Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 via PayPal.
Looking forward to viewing some fine craftsmanship.

Group buys only work when everyone is true to their word or people lose out. Please get your details in to David as soon as possible to get this moving. I've got nothing in this personally, I set it up to benefit you guys as a favour to fellow enthusiasts, let's make good on those commitments...;-)

David who makes the brackets is a perfectionist. If there is a minor imperfection in for example the anodising when it returns he will strip the part and send it back out. He's making each one with customisations from scratch so believe me the wait is well worth it and he won't be hurried...
